VANTAGE 400 Operating Modes
STANDARD MODE
Standard mode measures the straight line distance to the target you are aiming at. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a yard/meter.
When there is nothing displayed in the targeting modes area of the display (to the right or underneath the distance), you are in Standard mode.
Active Scan: If you hold the POWER button while in Standard mode the range finder will continuously scan so you can move around and get constant updates of the distance.
RAIN MODE
Rain mode measures the straight line distance to the target, but ignores any interference from falling raindrops. When range finding in Rain mode, the Horizontal Distance will also be shown on the lower distance readout line.
HUNT MODE
Hunt mode measures the straight line distance to the target, but ignores any interference from long grass or brush that stands between you and the target, ideal for measuring the distance to a deer that’s walking through long grass or woodland.
When Hunt mode is triggered the Hunt mode icon will have a circle around it. When range finding in Hunt mode, the Horizontal Distance will also be shown on the lower distance readout line.
HORIZONTAL DISTANCE ‘HD’ MODE
HD mode measures the horizontal distance to the target. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the HD component is shown on the lower distance readout. This is especially useful for measuring the bullet compensated distance to a target.
If shooting at high angles in the mountains, firing airguns that have loopy trajectories, or shooting bows from a tree stand, HD mode gives a more realistic distance for use when calculating holdover aim points.
ANGLE MODE
Angle mode measures the angle of projection. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a degree. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the angle measurement is shown on the lower distance readout. When aiming downhill a minus symbol will appear to the left of the angle display.
