Protect Your Barrel Between Installs

When a barrel comes off the action, surfaces that are normally protected become exposed. MK Machining Barrel Caps provide purpose-built protection for loose, spare, and switch-barrel setups during storage, handling, transport, cleaning, and shop work.

Available in dedicated Tenon Cap and Muzzle Cap configurations, each protector is sized by actual thread pitch so you can select the correct fit for your barrel.

Tenon Cap

The MKM Tenon Cap protects exposed barrel-tenon threads and the breech-side bore opening while the barrel is removed from the action.

An integrated barrel hanger gives you a simple way to get spare barrels off the bench and keep multi-barrel setups organized between installs. The grooved exterior also helps reduce rolling when the barrel is placed on a bench or other flat work surface.

Each Tenon Cap includes a desiccant pack that fits inside the cap to help manage moisture during storage as part of a properly prepared barrel-care routine.

Muzzle Cap

The MKM Muzzle Cap protects exposed muzzle threads, the crown area, and the muzzle-side bore opening during storage and handling.

Use it independently or pair it with a Tenon Cap to protect both ends of a loose barrel. The grooved exterior also helps keep the barrel more stable when set down on a flat work surface.

Barrel Cleaning & Soaking

The Muzzle Cap can also support extended soaking during stubborn barrel-cleaning jobs. With the removed barrel properly secured or suspended, the Muzzle Cap can help retain a compatible bore-cleaning solution inside the barrel for an extended soak before draining and continuing your normal cleaning routine.

Always verify cleaner compatibility, follow the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions, and remove the cap and fully drain the barrel before reinstallation or use.

Fit & Compatibility

Barrel Caps are selected by actual thread pitch, not by a long list of action or barrel names. One thread pitch may be shared across multiple manufacturers and platforms, while individual gunsmithing work can vary.
