DMLS Machine Operator

About MK Machining

MK Machining is an ISO 9001 certified advanced manufacturing company specializing in precision metal additive manufacturing and CNC machining. We manufacture high-quality components for demanding industries where precision, consistency, and attention to detail are essential.

We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to operate our Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) metal 3D printing equipment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with advanced manufacturing equipment, keeping production organized, and taking ownership of daily operations.

Position Overview

This is primarily an operations position, not an engineering or programming role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production schedules, operating equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring machines remain productive throughout the workday.

Experience with DMLS equipment is not expected, as these machines are highly specialized. Applicants with experience operating CNC equipment, industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, automotive repair, maintenance, or other mechanical systems are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

· Operate industrial DMLS metal 3D printing equipment

· Maintain production schedules and ensure builds stay on track

· Prioritize multiple jobs and changing production demands

· Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning

· Diagnose and troubleshoot basic machine issues

· Document production activities and machine performance

· Handle metal powders and equipment while following established safety procedures

· Coordinate with production personnel to maximize machine uptime

· Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment

· Assist with post-processing activities as needed

Preferred Qualifications

· Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

· Experience operating CNC machines, industrial equipment, manufacturing machinery, automotive equipment, or similar mechanical systems

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail

· Comfortable following written procedures and production schedules

A college degree is not required. We value practical experience, mechanical ability, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn over formal education. Previous experience with DMLS, laser powder bed fusion, or industrial metal 3D printers is a plus, but is not expected, and on-the-job training will be provided.

Processing Technician

MK Machining is a small company that has expanded exponentially over the years. Cross training will be provided for employees to allow the opportunity for both horizontal and vertical movement at the employees’ wishes.

Duties

  • Working with top-of-the-line 3D printers requires reliable attention to detail. Anyone working with these machines needs to be detail oriented.
  • Our machines run on a strict schedule, so attendance and communication of absence are imperative.
  • Assist in maintaining and preparing HP Multi-Jet Fusion, OCM, and EOS DMLS Machines for printing.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working directly with machinery in a manufacturing environment
  • Assist in moving parts through post-processing to prep for shipment.
  • Assisting in preventative maintenance for machines.
  • Healthy mix of hands-on equipment operation and desk-based responsibilities
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and use time wisely. Some days are busier than others, so identifying areas to help prepare parts or assisting a teammate is important.
  • Strong communication skills are essential. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate questions and concerns related to equipment, parts, attendance, and operational matters, as well as provide constructive feedback to leadership.
